Above is one of the illustrations in my Mid-Century Modern Entertainment series. I was inspired by Eydie Gorme’s elegant performances with the Mexican trio, Los Panchos, in the 1960s. Eydie and Los Panchos collaborated on several records that became classics in the Latin America music scene. Check out the video below and see what the original hipsters were like:
Desert Gang New Year’s Lounge Party
Happy New Year 2013 from the Desert Gang.
Christmas From the Desert
Here is the Desert Gang at a poolside hipster party.
Mexican Mariachi
Here is an illustration with the Desert Gang characterized as a Mariachi band.
Space dancer
A very rare video from over 40 years ago. Raquel Welch wearing a space suit and dancing on the sculptures of “La Ruta de la Amistad” built for the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, from Raquel’s eponymous 1970 television special.
Lili Maverick
I made this illustration for the fifth birthday of my niece Lili. She is a wonderful girl who lives in Arizona and likes to dress as a cowgirl. The final illustration is inspired by the character “Little Dot” by Harvey Comics.
